They come first.
My vision was growing dimmer, the blackness and ghosts closing in. I swore it was like I could hear Robert whispering in my ear: The world of the dead won't give you up a second time. Just before the light completely vanished, I saw Dimitri's face join Lissa's. I wanted to smile. I decided then that if the two people I loved most were safe, I could leave this world.
The dead could finally have me.
Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules. She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir's Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardians to come.
Now the law has finally caught up with Rose - for a crime she didn't even commit. She's in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She'll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.
But the clock on Rose's life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back...and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your whole life is about saving others, who will save you?
Join Rose, Dimitri, Adrian, and Lissa in Last Sacrifice, the epic, unforgettable finale to Richelle Mead's international #1 bestselling Vampire Academy series.
I finally finished this series! Now I want more…
THIS IS THE LAST BOOK IN A SIX BOOK SERIES… SPOILERS AHEAD
I have really liked the overall journey in this series and the growth of Rose has been exceptional. I have to say this story is a little hard to read at times because it is a long book and it does get a little boring at times because everyone is split up. This lead to Lissa and Rose having to be separated for the majority of the story and I kind of felt that in this last book that they should have been together a little more.
I think the strength of this story was seeing Rose piece back together her life. In previous books she has split her self so many ways to take care of everyone and in this book Rose is separated from a lot of her friends so she has to decide who she is. I mean she is on a quest to help Lissa but it is her time to come to terms with things that have been going on since book three. I really loved how strong she was but how she also struggled to do the right thing at times. I also felt her relationship with Dimitri was a little weird at times in this one but I like that they were able to work through some things and come together again. I missed their banter and relationship so much and I like that Dimitri finally let his feelings show in this one. I also feel that while Rose was finding herself we were finally able to see Dimitri and all of his feelings. I really enjoyed the fact that they had proper time on the road to get things worked out.
I felt that the overall storyline in this book was good because it was one we had been building toward in all of the other books. I also really enjoyed the addition of Sydney in this book even though that was just because she has a series of her own after this. I also liked seeing some more emotion out of Adrian in this novel and how Rose really did hurt him and that he has to figure out where his life is going now that his family has been torn apart.
Overall I know I have said some spoilers but I don’t want to tell you the whole story. The best part of this book was Rose and Dimitri. I liked them together and I liked their growth as individual people and how that helped them find their way back to each other. I enjoyed Sydney and Adrian and I can’t wait to see where that goes because I feel we just barely scratched the surface of his emotions and I want more of this world. After six books I have to say that book four will always be my favorite because it ripped out my heart but this book brought everything full circle and ended the book in such a way that you are happy with where Rose ended up.
