"I should never have asked for a night with you. This would never have happened if I'd had more willpower."
Once upon a time, I was a mute captive who wished for death.
Now, I’m stowed away on a yacht.
Saved and taken, the thief who stole me demands my voice, my past, my everything.
I won’t give in.
But Elder refuses to take no for an answer.
He pushes and cajoles, slowly discovering who I am. Until I find out he plays the cello to escape his demons, all while his music conjures mine.
He’s rich, I’m bankrupt.
I’m mute by choice, he’s curious by nature.
So many reasons why we can never work.
But that doesn’t stop our connection, our passion.
Until one night, he ruins everything.
*SPOILERS FROM FIRST NOVEL*
When the first book ended I think I was screaming because of the cliffhanger. I just wanted to know how the next book was going to go because I felt that the first book ended at a critical moment for our leading man, Elder.
The beginning of this one is action packed because we finally get to see what Elder is going to do with Pim now that he took her from her old Master. We also get to see more of who Pim is now that she is away from the Master who would always beat and abuse her. We are in this weird breathless place because we have no idea if Elder will use Pim just as badly as Master A or if he wants something different from her. I feel like this part of the book holds so much tension because you almost feel like you are Pim. You feel her fear over who Elder will be now that she belongs to him.
I have to say I love Elder! He is so different from Master A but that is not to say he has no demons because this man is complex. He loves what he loves and you can see he enjoys a challenge, which Pim is because she still won’t talk to him. He wants her voice and secrets and I have to love his weird drive to make Pim comfortable so he can have what he wants. I love how different this book is from others I have read. I felt like the characters and emotions are more raw than any I have seen before. I also love how dark the romance elements were because the leading lady is still a captive. There is even a scene in the book where another gentleman wants to buy Pim from Elder and Elder’s reaction is perfect.
Overall I just loved this book. As I already said it is raw, unique, original and heartbreaking. The end of this book had me screaming once again and had my heart breaking this time. I truly loved the end and you just have to read this book to see how special this couple really is. I also can’t wait once again to read the next book because this one ended at another critical moment between the two of them. Read this book! That is all.
