Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon: Alexa & Johnny’s Updates

Posted April 23rd, 2016 by in Read-a-Thon / 0 comments

I finally have the right timeline going on in my life to read for Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon! The last few of these I haven’t been able to join because of work or life events. I’m so glad that this worked out for me to read for 24 hours once again.

This time around Johnny wanted to join me so this page is for all of our updates.

Johnny and I are doing the Author-a-Thon which goes this whole week. We filmed our TBRs for the start of Author-a-Thon on Monday and so we are still reading many of these books. So our collective TBR can be found in this video…

Updates:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Arizona
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I think for Johnny this would be Dark Towers #2. For me I will go with Glass Sword.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I didn’t preplan snacks so I’ll just eat the things we have around the house.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
This is the first time that Johnny is joining me in the readathon and I’m excited to see if he loves it as much as I do.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
While I didn’t do the one in Oct I have done the readathon before in the past. I look forward to focusing on my reading while taking short breaks to check in on the internet as well as with Johnny and Stephanie.

Hours 1 & 2 (5am-7am)

Johnny is still sleeping… go figure. So no reading for him.

So far I managed to finish what I had left in The Graveyard Book. I plan on reading Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard next!
Pages: 97 (Page 211-307 in The Graveyard Book)
Total Pages: 97

Hours 3, 4, 5 & 6 (7am-11am)

Johnny is now up and reading history books for his Master’s thesis. I’m not sure if he is even counting these pages.

I planned on reading a lot of Glass Sword but I took a nap, a shower, and had a snack. I did manage a little bit of reading so here is my updated page count.
Pages: 82 (Page 1-82 in Glass Sword)
Total Pages: 179

 Hours 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 (11am-4pm)

Johnny finally joined the reading in this update. Here is what he has read so far.
Pages: 124 (Page 32-156 in Drawing of the Three)
Total Pages: 124

Once again I didn’t read as much as I would like to but I’m still happy with what I am reading and the amount I am accomplishing today.
Pages: 148 (Page 83-230 in Glass Sword)
Total Pages: 327

Hours 12-24 (4pm-5am)

I feel like I failed at this readathon even though I know that is not the point of a readathon. I just felt like I was dragged down in Glass Sword and instead of putting it aside for something else sooner in the day I waited until more than half way through the readathon to pick up a comic and another book. I’m glad I did read on and off for most of the day but I am a little disappointed that I couldn’t seem to finish one book. I think the next time I participate in this particular readathon I’m going to pick out books by favorite authors that I know I can fly through instead of getting in a rut.
Pages: 191 (Page 231-267 in Glass Sword), (Page 1-101 in Batman Cacophony #1), (Page 1-53 in This Side of the Grave)
Total Pages: 518
