Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. Borrowed from Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Perhaps some of you have noticed that things have been hit and miss here at Once Upon a Chapter. I have to laugh because my last Sunday Post was all positive excitement over getting my blogging caught up and feeling ahead of the game. Mid-November I was informed that a certain search engine had discovered “hacked content” on my site. I couldn’t see it, you couldn’t see it but it was there. I’m not savvy enough to understand what this means entirely but it meant that I had a nice red warning on my search results warning others that my site had potentially been hacked.

It wasn’t easy trying to get all sorted out. I learned a LOT about FTP, root files, databases, back ups, importing, what to save, what to wipe, how to create php files out in your files on your server and how to get things back to normal. It was a very stressful time. I was more concerned about everyone else’s work and how to save it. I could have paid someone else to do it and was given a very reliable (yet somewhat pricey) company as a reference. I almost broke down and paid the company but I ended up being able to get it all straightened. It’s taken me a month to get it all worked out and I am free of the warning and backed up safely. I apologize for the inconvenience and the flood of “new” posts hitting your rss feeds. It was a necessary evil.

Enough of that! How have you been? What have I missed? Are you looking forward to the holidays?

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

I have SO many new books. Somewhere in my feed the first week of December someone posted a bunch of great Kindle deals. I basically spent my entire monthly budget (x2) in one day. I got a lot of great books and I can’t wait to read them. This week however had only one purchase:

Queen of Someday by Sherry D Ficklin

Anything for You by Kristan HigginsLongbourn by Jo Baker

Thanks to my blogging emergency I have not been in the reading mood at all. On Thursday I finally picked Anything for You by Kristan Higgins back up. (This more than anything else should tell you that the problem was entirely with me!) My guess is I’ll have it finished today or tomorrow. I’m currently listening to Longbourn by Jo Baker though I also have the book to read should I need to pick it up when I can’t listen.

What are you reading this week?

Sorry to hear about the hassle- it can be scary when something goes wrong and you have to figure it out. Glad everything is working again! It’s nice to see reviews of Alex and Ada- I’ve been wanting to read those. It seems to confirm what I thought, although I’m concerned about the end a bit- I’m glad for your heads up, in case I get disappointed too!

    Have a great week.

It just takes the one time. I’ll be backing up my blog later today. Probably going to become a Saturday ritual from now on. At least that way I will have all of my info backed up should I ever need it again.

The worst part was trying to figure out how to use the back up that I had accurately. Then because we are a co-blogger blog to make sure everyone’s posts were assigned to the correct person.

Once I was able to get the back up all sorted out it went pretty smoothly from there. 🙂

Thank you! Ashley did a great job. We overhauled the blog about a year and a half ago and with that I ordered some of the most used graphics. I love them! 🙂

I know! Learn by necessity I guess. 🙂 I actually got them both read and then some. I’m actually excited to get some reviews up and going for them. It’s been awhile since I’ve felt that spark!

It sucks even more when you’re not sure if you want to fix it or walk away. If it wasn’t for my husband’s coaxing it might not have been fixed. 🙂 It is worth it, I was just overwhelmed. Thanks for stopping by!
