Stephanie and I are both participating in Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon!

If it is not obvious by the banner we are going to try to buddy read Throne of Glass. Neither one of us has taken the plunge with this series yet so we figured now was a great time to do it.

In addition to Throne of Glass we will probably each read other things as well.

Stephanie and I also both agree that hourly updates are time consuming and take away from the reading so we will only post our updates every few hours.

Opening Meme: (Alexa)

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I’m in Arizona… it is 5 am here!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Throne of Glass!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I don’t snack much while I read. I’ll mostly do meals today.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
Growing up I hated reading and had to spend time after school with the teacher to learn how to read.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I want to not focus on how many books I read and just focus on having fun and trying to start and finish Throne of Glass today.

Opening Meme: (Stephanie)

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I’m in Illinois. I slept in and didn’t really start until 7:30. It’s been a great readathon so far!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Throne of Glass! Lol. It’s the only book I’m really focusing on today. Everything else is just bank.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I have some chips and dip and some chocolate covered cherries. Not cherry cordials but actual cherries in chocolate. They are divine!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’m a pretty slow reader. This readathon I decided to focus on my page count and keeping my goals simple and hopefully attainable. I am lucky in that I don’t have many distractions; though I do have a husband that I’m convinced tries his hardest!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
Really I am not going to focus on how awesome everyone else does (Kudos to you guys! Seriously!) and I’m just going to be happy in knowing that I am reading with somewhere near 1700 other people who are just as enthusiastic as me when it comes to reading!

Hour 1-4

Pages Read
Stephanie: 62
Alexa:103

The Books
Stephanie: Finished Unbound by Sara Humphreys (21 pages) and started Throne of Glass (41 pages in)
Alexa: Throne of Glass (pgs. 1-103)

Feelings
Stephanie: I’ve been pretty distracted this morning but most of my reading is done in the evening anyway! Loving our book choice so it won’t be hard to get involved again. Hoping everyone else’s readathon is as awesome as mine has been!
Alexa: Feeling pretty good about the book so far. I have to head out into the world for a few hours so the hour 5-8 update might be lacking in reading but I’ll make up for it in the later afternoon. Have fun reading everyone!

Hour 5-8

Pages Read
Stephanie: 62 + 0 =62
Alexa: 103 + 0 = 103

The Books
Stephanie: I had lunch plans unexpectedly come up with family so I did not get any reading done during this portion.
Alexa: I didn’t get the chance to read anything during this update.

Feelings
Stephanie: Despite not read anything this period, I’m not upset. For me 2015 is about not getting stressed out about reading.
Alexa: As I said in my 1-4 hour update I was going out in the world and didn’t have time to read anything while I was gone. Now I’m home again and should have some time to get into Throne of Glass again!

Hour 9-12

Pages Read
Stephanie: 62 + 0 = 62
Alexa: 103 + 25

The Books
Alexa: Throne of Glass (Pg. 103-128)

Feelings
Stephanie: Still no reading. Lunch was an hour away so that’s two hours in the car that I can’t ignore family to read. Still don’t regret it. I’m making up time with this book in the coming portion. I can’t wait to dig back in to Throne of Glass!
Alexa: Haven’t been reading a lot but it is progress all the same.

Hour 13-16

Pages Read
Stephanie: 62 + 121 = 183
Alexa: 128 + 0 =128

The Books
Stephanie: Throne of Glass

Feelings
Stephanie: Dug right back into the story. I’m glad to have picked such an involved story. It’s keeping my attention and is making me want to continue reading. I’m hoping to make it through the next 4 hours but we shall see!
Alexa: I’m a little sad that this read-a-thon didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to. I was planning on spending the entire day reading but I wasn’t feeling very good most of the day and needed to sleep and relax. So maybe I’ll join the one in October.
