It’s important that if you are re-reading this series that you answer the questions based only on the knowledge that we have so far!
1. What do you think of the Department of Mysteries?
I would have loved to have spent so much more time there! There are brains being kept for whatever reason. It seems like the Ministry has managed to encapsulate time itself. The most fascinating to me is the Hall of Prophecy. I would have loved to spend time there just listening to them all. (I’m assuming there must be an alternative way to listen to them other than smashing them).
2. Poor Harry. Sirius too is now gone. What do you think about this?
It shattered me the first time I read it and it broke my heart this time too. Harry just cannot seem to catch a break. This boy, in his fifteen years, has suffered more loss than some of us do in a lifetime. It really did hurt to realize that Harry had just lost, not only a sort-of father figure but also probably the closest connection he had left to James and Lily.
3. Now that the wizrding community has seen Voldemort what do you expect to happen?
I honestly don’t know. If they handled it like Muggles, Fudge would probably be tried for knowing such a threat existed and allowing it to happen without putting up any resistance. I’ll be very curious to see what happens next. Voldy will probably become more aggressive now that he doesn’t have to be sly.
4. Do you think Dumbledore was correct in doing what he did regarding his contact with Harry?
It seems to be the only way. I know with hindsight he thinks he should have told Harry everything that was going on, but if the few incidents when they did have contact are anything to go off of, Dumbledore was smart to withhold that information. Not to mention that Professor Snape explained to Harry that Voldemort could attempt to do what he did.
5. Overall what are your thoughts on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix?
Surprisingly enough I really enjoyed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix this time. In the past I have labeled this book my least favorite of the series because of Harry’s martyr-ism. I can’t put my finger on it but I found I really enjoyed this re-read. I’m anxious to move on with the series. I’ve only read book #6 twice and book #7 once.
