Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JK Rowling

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by JK Rowling was another great addition to the Harry Potter series. Rowling expands on the wizarding world that she created in the first book. We get to visit the characters that we have come to love nd we get to meet new faces as well. Whether we love them or not!

In the second installment, Harry is more comfortable at Hogwarts and I think we get to see more of the day to day stuff. In the Sorcerer’s Stone there were so many new things to explore and learn about. In the Chamber of Secrets there were a lot more familiar things but still enough new things to hold your interest and then some.

I think one of the biggest draws for me in this book is the introduction of house-elves. Dobby is such an irritating little guy but at the same time you find yourself in love with him by the end of the book. The thing is we don’t really know too much about Dobby. He makes his appearances, says what he feels he can, punishes himself a bit, and pops back out of the story faster than he popped in. 🙂

On the flip side of this, the biggest turn off was Gilderoy Lockhart. My God did that man make me want to punch him straight in his Witch Weekly winning smile. I’d even risk some knuckle skin to knock out a few teeth. And that was before I found out what a d-bag he is. I can honestly say that I don’t think I’ve come across a more annoying and full of himself character in any of the other books I have read. He wasn’t enough to ruin the book though.

I really enjoyed this chapter in the Harry Potter series and can’t wait to move on to the next book in the series.
