Crafting & Cooking Saturdays is going to be another new feature here at Once Upon a Chapter. I adore cross stitching (along with various other crafts!) and cooking but don’t do it often enough to validate a whole blog dedicated to either so you’ll get a weekly dose here! Doesn’t that sound like fun? Let’s get this first edition off with a great recipe! If you read each blog entry carefully (as I’m sure you all do!), you’ll know that I’ve been on a Julie & Julia binge. The food in that movie looks delicious! After watching it about twenty times I decided to tackle some of those nummy looking recipes. We’ve made the bruschetta (alas no pics of that) so I decided to tackle the boiled artichokes and hollandaise sauce. I’ve tried my hand at blender hollandaise sauce and well that did not go well. At. All. I was a little hesitant with this recipe but thought that Julia Child couldn’t steer me wrong. I picked up a copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Simone Beck, Louisette Bertholle, and Julia Child and my local grocery store for my ingredients.
After following both recipes in exactness I was left with a whole bunch of artichokes and a delicious hollandaise sauce. Turns out that I didn’t need to worry too much about the hollandaise, the recipe walked me through each step and offered fixes in case I messed it up! Two artichokes were more than enough for me and I had more than enough sauce.
I’ve been working on Bitter Luigi for I think maybe a few years now. I am determined to get it done this year, even if it kills me. I have made quite a bit of progress in the past month. When I started this up again, I only had the sky done up to between the tree and the plant. Now I’ve got Mario and quite a bit of the blue done! After I finish this panel I have one last one panel to do. It may very well kill me.

Do you enjoy cooking or crafting? Tell me all about it! I love to try new things.

I didn’t cook hardly anything last week which is totally unusual. I just wasn’t in the mood to clean the kitchen LOL
I am working on a new afghan though (greenish)
