2013 Resolutions

Posted December 31st, 2012 by in Uncategorized / 4 comments

This year I’ve done a lot of thinking before committing to things. This year my reading resolutions are:

*To read more books.

That’s it. Simply put I miss reading to read. I started to blog because I loved sharing my love of books. I yearned to have people to talk to about the books that I’ve read or the books that they have read. I wanted to review books in the hopes of sparking some conversation. Any conversation really. I’m not gonna lie, when I started blogging I had no idea there was a whole community out there. Then it became a race to keep up with everyone. It wasn’t enough to post just reviews. There were memes, read-a-thons, read-alongs, challenges and so much more that this awesome community has to offer. The flipside of that awesomeness is that it means a lot more work. I didn’t realize how much work. I enjoy memes and all those other things but to be honest I have gotten to the point where I actually start to hyperventilate when I think of all the things I should be doing.

Then a few of the fantastic bloggers that I have found did some posts about why do you blog and are you blogging for you and how basically if you aren’t doing what works for you it won’t work period. In 2013 I plan to get back to basics. I will only be posting reviews. That’s why I started blogging and that’s what I plan to do. I will still do my top pick giveaway, participate in read-a-thons, and do what I can to help those awesome bloggers I love (should they ever need that help). The fact of the matter is that I am not incredibly creative and I don’t feel like I have a whole lot to say that hasn’t already been said. It makes it pretty hard to generate a great discussion post. 🙂 So this year, I’m taking it easy and seeing where it takes me. I’ll still be hanging out in the blogging world and I’ll probably even be on Twitter more.

The one thing that I am doing that seems to go against this resolution is that I am participating in a pretty great challenge that is going to help focus me on something I used to be able to do on my own: finish a series….. or 35. I don’t think I will get to that ambitious number but it’s healthy to have goals. If you’re interested check out my progress page for more information. Amanda and Kelly are at it again!

Who else is ready for a great reading year in 2013?!

Aw thanks Kelly! I’m hoping to kick a bunch of books right off of Mt. TBR. One book at a time is my motto this year. Instead of focusing on the big number I’m going to tackle each book as it comes.
