In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.
When Kate Mercier’s parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life–and memories–behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.
Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate’s guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he’s a revenant–an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.
I have never read any books by Amy Plum before so I didn’t really know what to expect. I have been wanting to read this book for some time now and I am glad I did. It was a fantastic read! Plum did not disappoint me at all. I had no idea what Vincent was at the beginning of the story but I knew he was not human. Plum kept me guessing until Vincent’s true identify was revealed. I love the characters and story line she created in this series. I have never read any books with Revenants in it before but I love the author’s concept.
I really enjoyed the romance between Kate and Vincent. I love the connection they share and have with each other. I could feel their love for one another as if they were truly meant to be together. Plum did a wonderful job with all the characters. You could feel all the characters’ emotions and pain throughout the book as if they were your own. Plum has a way of drawing you into the story and making you feel that you are one of the characters in the story. I really love Plum’s writing and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I never like waiting for the next book in a series. I am very impatient.

I read this one for a swap read I did on Ashley’s blog, The Bookish Brunette. I found the book to be refreshing since this topic isn’t one commonly used in YA and I did like the romance that didn’t take a backseat to the action in the book. The good news is that the second book is already out so you don’t have to wait for it. The third book is the one not yet published.
Thanks for the great review, so glad you enjoyed this one.
