Kissing Sin by Keri Arthur

Kissing Sin by Keri Arthur
#2 in the Riley Jensen Guardian Series
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Source: Own

Synopsis:

From Melbourne’s gleaming skyscrapers to its throbbing nightclubs, Riley Jenson’s world is raging with danger and desire. A drop-dead-gorgeous werewolf–with a touch of vamp coursing in her blood–Riley works for an organization created to police the supernatural races. But when she wakes up naked and bruised in a barren alley, she knows only that she must run for her life.

Within moments Riley collides with the sexiest man she’s ever seen: steely, seductive Kade, who is fighting a life-and-death battle of his own. With old lovers and enemies gathering around her, Riley knows she is being pursued by a new kind of criminal. Because in Riley’s blood is a secret that could create the ultimate warrior–if only she can survive her own dangerous desires….

What I Liked: Riley is back in all of her glory and I couldn’t be happier. This time around she has certainly stepped up her game. She is a better kickass heroine than in the first book, I truly believe that she is growing into her role in this series. She is no longer really fighting the fact that this is her career, I mean who else is going to save the world. Riley has to come face to face with some things from her past that she may want to avoid. She has to find out if she is actually fertile, can she have the little children cubs she has always wanted!? Also who is at the buttom of the investigation that started in book one, who is out to get Riley’s unique mixed DNA?

As the mystery behind this story intensifies there are some great new characters that get introduced! Kade is a sexy horse-shifter who has a lot of secrets but Riley might just be able to overlook that in order to get into bed with him. Then there is Kellen! *pulls out a fan* I thought Quinn was hot but I might just dare to say that all of the men in this series have nothing on Kellen. He is all wolf and he might just be the one wolf destined to be with Riley, well if she ever decides to stop fighting for her life and fall for him at one point.

This series is shaping up to be a great urban fantasy read.

What I Could Have Lived Without: While I loved that the plot really took over in this book, it was a bit complicated at times. You really had to pay close attention to every single small detail in order of having any hope of piecing it all together in the end. I did also miss some of the steam that the first book had. While I thought the first book had just a touch too much steam for an urban fantasy book I felt this one didn’t have quite enough. I wanted to see her connect with the three men that are now in her life but I feel she was too busy fighting at every turn in the book to really pay attention to all of the delicious men right in front of her.

Recommended For:  Urban fantasy fans who like a little steam with their reads.

Avoid If: If you are just looking for a strict urban fantasy read with very little to no romance then this is not the series for you. With three men trying to get her attention there is certainly a level of romance that enters the storyline.
