Review: Lie With Me by Stephanie Tyler

Talk about a hot little novel filled with romantic suspense! Lie With Me will have your mind whirling and leave you gasping for air! You can’t go wrong with this stellar first installment of the Shadow Force Series!

Cameron Moore has been working in secret for a CIA member Gabriel Creighton to repay a large debt. Years ago, Gabriel helped get Cameron out of prison after he was framed for the double murder of two FBI agents. After many years of diligent service and overwhelming suspicions, Cameron has decided he wants out. Cameron has his sights on the perfect bargaining chip…Gabriel’s daughter, Skylar Slavin. Skylar is a famous author who pens popular spy novels about a strong and powerful heroine. Living in isolation from the most of the outside world, Skylar feels she is the exact opposite of the woman she creates on paper. But meeting Cameron may change all that. For as soon as he drops into her life, all hell breaks loose. Not only has Cameron found out Skylar’s identity, but a dangerous terrorist group as well. While Cam just wants to use the power that comes with knowing Skylar’s lineage, the terrorist group is gunning for blood.

With help from his friend Dylan and his old flame, Riley, Cameron is determined to get to the bottom of this situation and find out what’s really going on. Finding out the truth may be more than this group can handle, but Skylar’s life is now at stake. Cameron came into this situation as Skylar’s enemy, intending to use her to his advantage, but now he may be her only hope to make it out of this mess alive.

It’s always refreshing to hear about secret ops men who have a sensitive side! Cameron is the white knight with the exterior armor of steel, yet a very vulnerable heart! It easily becomes apparent that he and Skylar are two halves of the same coin. The have led similar lives and understand each other to a emotionally earth-shattering degree. It was truly fascinating to read about two individuals who have never opened their hearts to anyone, or ever trusted another soul, to fall into complete comfort with one another. Skylar is the woman all of us shy and quiet females can relate to. She is uncertain in a lot of things about herself, but her dangerous situation is turning her into an invincible woman.

Normally, secondary stories aren’t an issue and are sometimes more charming than the main character’s story. With this novel, I became very worried in the beginning that the secondary story might overwhelm the novel. For this reader, it becomes irritating when the other characters take over the novel. Yet, halfway through you see the purpose of the grand picture. All of the agents are working to a common goal and each one holds a piece of the puzzle. While Cameron and Skylar are the strangers finding a new relationship, Riley and Dylan are the ones fighting so hard to deny what they both realize has always been there. I loved the vast differences in both their relationships and all the characters made for an excellent novel!

Lie With Me is a wonderful romantic suspense novel. It’s not too high on the action scale, but it is a great spy novel, revealing intriguing details along the way and constantly keeping you on your toes. In one moment I would be taken away by the charming romance and in the next be back in the adventure of it all. This is a high quality novel from Tyler that you will not want to miss!

I loved this book. I usually do not like secondary stories in a book but I understand why Dylan and Riley played a big part in this storyline.I just finished Promises In The Dark! 🙂 🙂
