A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.

Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki, a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.

Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away;if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.

Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide.

3.5 Stars

I got hooked in the beginning part of this story because the setting was pretty and I loved this idea of dragons. It’s not everyday that an author does a book about a human who is also a dragon or draki as Jordan calls them in her book. The first 50 or so pages pulled me in with this great dragon backstory and meeting two hot guys. I must say that I had high hopes for the rest of the book since the beginning was so great. Let’s just say that the book hit a downward spiral in the middle of the book when the main character Jacinda could not for the life of her make up her mind! Honestly the girl went back and forth over one issue every 10 pages or so. Back and forth and back and forth (anyone else feel like we are at a tennis match)! I know the girl is only 16 but the drama involved in her decisions was a little bit much for even me. I thought the ending was pretty predictable after we got past the boring middle section of this book.
This book is the first in a series so we had to learn a lot of information about the characters and honestly I was looking for some more action scenes. I will be picking up the next book because I believe Jacinda did shine in the end and that her love interest (a dragon hunter named Will) was worth picking up the second book for. I will be interested in seeing how the second book pans out and if there is more action or if it is more of Jacinda just complaining and causing drama.

Overall, I believe that if the second book has more action and a little bit better plot line then this will be a good series for everyone to get into. I guess I will just have to wait for book two to make my final decisions on this series.
